Water Fasting for Weight Loss

Idiot Proof Rules For Fast & Permanent Fat Loss.

As the number of weight loss diets and products continues to flood the markets and our love of the Standard Western Diet continues to grow, millions of people from all walks of life – both children and adults – are quickly learning a lesson they’d probably just as soon not learn – ‘how to gain weight fast’!

In fact, more and more people every day are finding themselves, unfortunately, in the ‘I want to lose weight’ camp. And more people than ever before are turning to fasting in order to jump start their weight loss program, or to at least try to gain a firmer control over their eating habits.

Fasting for weight loss can be undertaken for as short as 1 day or as long as 30 days – depending upon the type of fast diet you choose, and your health at the beginning of the fast.

But, just like with any other diet and exercise or diet and nutrition program, you should always consult with your doctor so that you both can make an informed decision about your weight loss diet plan based on your current health, fitness, and medications.

Once you determine that any underlying health issues you may have will withstand a fast, you are ready to begin! A Fast Diet can not only be an effective way to lose unnecessary body fat, but it is also an excellent way of cleansing unhealthy toxins from the body and divorcing yourself from unhealthy eating habits.

Weight loss happens through a negative calorie balance, meaning that when you burn more calories than you take in you will naturally lose weight. The negative balance can happen by either decreasing your food intake, or by increasing the number of calories you burn (exercise). And though the fast diet may be a healthy way to jump start your weight loss program, it is not intended to be used for weight management.

Weight management, instead of being the endless journey of weight gain and weight loss that plagues many people, should be achieved through maintaining a specific weight by having changed your eating habits to a ‘diet’ that you can continue to follow without fear of ‘falling off’.

Fast diets can also be unhealthy. If you have underlying emotional eating habits, then your next hurdle may be binging or anorexia recovery brought on by fasting, because either of these eating disorders can be dangerous to your health. This is one reason why it is very important to consult with your physician before going on a weight loss fast, and to also learn everything you can about how to fast.

Types Of Fast Diets

There are three types of fast diets – a water diet (or water fast), a juice fast, and a fruit fast. A water only fast is pretty self-explanatory – you drink nothing but water while on the fast. On a juice fast you drink freshly squeezed juices that include, but are not limited to, carrot, apple, fruits, and greens. And on a fruit fast, the participant is only allowed to eat fruits – of any kind and in any amounts – while on the diet.

Most people who are fasting to lose weight start with a water-only fast. This phase lasts for 1-3 days, followed by a juice fast. The juice you consume while fasting should be freshly squeezed at home using a juicing machine because the most beneficial ingredient in these juices are the living enzymes, which die after 24 hours. Thus, fresh squeezed juice is imperative to gaining the most benefit from the juice.

Once you have achieved your time goal for the juice fast, you can move into the fruit portion of the fast. This phase of the fast diet should be ½ the length of time of the water and juice phases combined. In other words, if you fasted drinking only water and juice for a total of 10 days then you should eat only fruit for a total of 5 days.

When you are juicing, it is important to use as much organic produce as you can to avoid the poisonous substances normally used in gardens. Just imagine pouring fungicides and herbicides into your body at an alarming rate as you juice 2 pounds of carrots to get 16 ounces of juice!

Once you complete the three phases of the fast diet, you can move into a raw food diet of vegetables and fruit for the same length of time as the fruit phase, which will continue to produce a rapid weight loss. You’ll also be cleansing out your lower intestines with the added fiber of the toxins that build up when you aren’t eating.

Be sure to include as much raw food as possible as you transition to a diet of foods that you can continue to eat and maintain your weight loss long term. Because living food is wonderful for a living body, you want to make sure you are incorporating lots of raw vegetables and fruits into your diet daily.

So, Is Fasting Unhealthy?

Once you have been cleared by your doctor, and he has determined that you are healthy enough to go on a fast diet, fasting can be a very cleansing experience for you.

In fact, a good fast diet actually has fantastic health, spiritual and weight loss benefits, and with the right motivation and support, fasting can also benefit your overall health. Just resist the temptation to use fasting for long-term weight management as this can be unhealthy rather than beneficial.

Now that you’ve lost all those excess pounds it’s time to come up with a plan to keep them off! It really would be a shame to put them all back on again. Retaining some daily fitness training in your weight loss activities is an excellent way to do this. You can also grow some muscles to build up your physique. See how Lebron James has done just that.
