Healthy BMI Range for Men – BMI Body Mass Index Calculator

Body mass index, or BMI, is a mathematical standard that is used to determine whether or not someone is considered overweight, obese, underweight or healthy.

BMI has long been considered one of the most precise methods of evaluating a person’s level of body fat. It is important for men to know their BMI.

If it is not on target, then they are putting themselves at risk for a variety of health issues like strokes, arthritis, high blood pressure, gallbladder disease, heart disease, sleep apnea, liver disease, cancer and diabetes.

Calculating your BMI is a relatively simple process. You just need to know how tall you are and how much you weigh. Once you have the necessary numbers, you will then divide your weight in pounds by your height in inches.

Then, take that total and divide it by your height, once again. Now, take that sum and multiply it by 703. The final result is your BMI. To be considered healthy, men need to have a BMI that falls between 18.5 and 24.9.

Since muscle actually weighs more than fat, men who consider themselves to be serious athletes may, at first, seem to have a high BMI. However, this does not necessarily mean that they are unhealthy. Any man with a higher or lower than average BMI should talk with their doctor to see if it is indeed a serious problem or one that can simply be corrected with an increase in physical activities and a change in dietary habits.
